Photographer in Residence

Since Grandma Judy came, Ida has been the subject of a remarkable array of photos! Judy keeps mentioning that her granddaugher is the cutest ever (she's not biased...much.)
It takes a bit of work to get baby bundled up for a ride in the baby-jogger when it is -35 degrees. Lots of layers...

Ida is fascinated with what she can stick her feet into...mama's slippers, dog-food bowls, and here - the crock pot.

Quality time chatting with Budger the dog. The dogs are the subject of most of Ida's current conversations.

Peeking out the window with papa.

Orange you glad to see Ida

Grandpa George and Grandma Judy are here in Galena, and we will have lots of new pictures to share over the next few days. The extreme cold weather (between 20 and 35 below) has slowed down our blogging, as it does with most aspects of life. But warmer temps are forecast for next week, which will be nice for deep frying a turkey.

We got a box of organic oranges the other day, and Ida enjoys them very much.

Housecleaning

It's always nice to have a little extra help around the house!

Mush!

Well, the winter storm warnings finally amounted to something, and today we enjoyed wild wind and snow with relatively warm temperatures (+22F). After a walk (ride) and a nice nap in her stroller, Ida hopped into the kicksled (now equipped with her swing as a kid-seat) and went mushing with Nayuka and Budger.

Ida was thrilled, and kept urging the dogs on with an occassional "aiyeee dog-da dog-da!"

Budger seemed to have other things on her mind...

Aaah, wishes fulfilled!

Winter Sneaks In

Winter is softly tiptoing in on a carpet of white snow. Lacy frost decorates our windows. Time to snuggle up with a good book!

Talking on the Phone, and the Chicken

One of Ida's favorite toys is the telephone. She likes our cordless phone so much that she gave it a bath in the dogs' water dish a few days ago. But anything can be a phone to Ida - wood blocks, her hand, and as we see in this video, chickens.
