Winter Sneaks In

Winter is softly tiptoing in on a carpet of white snow. Lacy frost decorates our windows. Time to snuggle up with a good book!

Talking on the Phone, and the Chicken

One of Ida's favorite toys is the telephone. She likes our cordless phone so much that she gave it a bath in the dogs' water dish a few days ago. But anything can be a phone to Ida - wood blocks, her hand, and as we see in this video, chickens.

Ida in motion

Many people ask if Ida is walking yet. She is not, but this video demonstrates her skills at "walking the walls" (actually, walking the chair) and then shifting into high speed crawling.

Seasonal Treat

In a rare event that only happens here about once every five years, the lakes, ponds and sloughs froze before the snow came, and the weather was warm enough to allow feet to wear ice skates, and it was a weekend! Around here that means skip-all-chores and skate, skate, skate! You can go for miles and miles without stopping. These photos are from a two hour skate Sunday afternoon with the Korta family.

These tracks tell the story of a moose who had an interesting time crossing the ice. I wish we could have watched.

And, of course, an Ida photo to round out the collection. She was pretty pleased with herself for finding a way into the coffee drawer.
